  • Exclusive to WRX STI: 2.5-litre turbocharged BOXER engine produces 305 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 290 lb.-ft. peak torque @ 4,000 rpm.

  • SI-DRIVE engine performance management with Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp settings.

  • 6-speed manual transmission with triple-cone synchronizers on 1st and 2nd, double-cone on 3rd gear; improved for lower noise and vibration and easier shifting effort for 2015 model.


Chassis



  • New body structure makes greater use of high-tensile steel than the previous model and features special stiffening elements at key locations.

  • Inverted-strut front suspension with forged aluminum-alloy lower A-arms with pillow ball-type rear bushings.

  • New Active Torque Vectoring, an enhancement of the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, allows for improved cornering speeds and handling; in certain cornering situations, system can apply braking to inside front wheel for neutral steering.

  • Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) allows driver to select level of stability and traction control intervention, or turn it off.

  • Subaru’s proven ring-shaped reinforcement frame body structure has been shown to excel in the new small overlap test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

  • STI high-performance sport-tuned suspension.

  • 18x8.5-in. cast alloy wheels; STI Sport-tech has 18x8.5-in. BBS forged alloy wheels.

  • 245/40R18 summer performance tires.

  • Brembo performance brake system employs ventilated 4-wheel disc brakes with 4-piston calipers in front and dual-piston calipers in the rear. Combination of Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and super sport Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps to enhance stability under hard braking.


Design



  • 25 mm longer wheelbase than the previous WRX STI yields roomier interior.

  • Aero-enhanced body design; hood, fenders, doors and quarters, bumpers, headlights and taillight clusters express WRX STI identity.

  • Aluminum hood with integral scoop to provide fresh air to intercooler; scoop now set more deeply into hood to provide better forward visibility.

  • Rear-seat legroom increased by nearly 50 mm over previous WRX STI.

  • Lower side sills and wider-opening doors for easier ingress/egress.

  • Windshield more raked than before, with the A-pillar pulled forward 200 mm at the base for better forward visibility.

  • New LED low-beam headlights.

  • LED taillights.


Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive



  • Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) with three automatic performance modes, in addition to six manual differential locking control settings. Normal torque split is 41:59 for handling agility; mechanical limited-slip type centre differential augments electronically controlled differential.

  • Helical gear-type limited-slip front differential and TORSEN torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential.

  • Lower dashboard and narrower A-pillars.

  • New flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescoping adjustments and integrated switches for audio and Bluetooth controls.
